Flash Floods Devastate Keyi Panyor, Three Missing as Landslides Paralyze Arunachal Pradesh Highway
Incessant rainfall triggered flash floods in Keyi Panyor district of Arunachal Pradesh, damaging 18 homes and disrupting a national highway due to landslides. Three people are missing near Neepco project colony in Yazali circle as authorities coordinate large-scale response efforts across Assam and downstream districts facing imminent flood risk within 48 hours.
The disaster left widespread destruction in its wake, with 18 residential units reported damaged as floodwaters rapidly entered inhabited areas. Simultaneously, landslides along a national highway brought vehicular movement to a complete standstill, stranding several travelers and severely affecting connectivity in the region.
A major concern emerged from the Neepco project colony near Poosa under the Yazali circle, where three individuals are reported missing following the flash flood surge. State Disaster Management Secretary Dani Sulu confirmed the situation and stated that search and response operations are being closely monitored.
Authorities further confirmed that the Assam government is maintaining continuous coordination with all relevant agencies and district administrations. The administration has been issuing regular advisories and updates in the interest of public safety as the flood situation continues to evolve.
Officials have warned that the flood wave is expected to impact Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, and Sonitpur districts before advancing further downstream. The water surge is projected to move through additional districts and eventually reach Dhubri within the next one to two days, raising concerns over escalating flood risk across a wider region.
The unfolding situation underscores the scale and speed of the natural disaster, as emergency response teams remain engaged in monitoring, rescue readiness, and coordination across affected and potentially affected districts.
